Take a walk outside today and don’t bring your phone. WHAT? Yes, if you want to get an idea of how to reach your next customer you have to LOOK AROUND. Most likely 7 out of ten people you encounter will be at least partially head down checking their phone. So how will you get their attention? Loud noises? Maybe. But those kind of fall into the public nuisance category which isn’t a great idea. How about a chalk stencil on the ground? Bright, colorful and hard to miss especially when you’re looking down!
So, if your target customer is urban, an ideal place for a chalk stencil ad is at or near a busy corner, subway entrance, bus stop, any transportation hub. If your ideal demographic is more suburban, town main streets, train stations, mall parking lots and community centers and such are the place to “place” the stencils.
Maybe you want to reach the three of 10 who aren’t looking down? Posters placed in shop windows and at construction sites and scaffolds are effective in catching the eye of mainly urban walkers. Free standing posters and shop window banners and notices work well in suburban malls and village streets.
Digital projections are hard to ignore when the sun goes down and the dark nights are illuminated by an image promoting your product.
